Learning Commons

St Francis Xavier College values learning for all students and encourages and nurtures achievement now and enables success into the future for students as lifelong learners. The Learning Commons is a welcoming and inclusive environment that aims to support students and staff.

The Learning Commons is at the centre of teaching and learning at the College and is imbedded across all subject areas and classrooms. Our Learning Commons meets the needs of students and teachers. Staff within the Learning Commons work with teachers to increase the knowledge and skill of a variety of literacies including but not limited to, digital, textbook, scientific and visual. Our lessons incorporate high impact teaching practices and are interwoven with subject specific needs.

The Learning Commons promotes a reading culture through a rich array of texts that target student and staff interest. Students are encouraged to borrow from the collection and are assisted by the team to find the right book, if needed.
