A film capturing what it truly means to belong

On Tuesday 24 March 2026, St Francis Xavier College proudly premiered our new film About SFX to families attending the Year 7 2027 Information Evening. More than a video, the film is a window into the heart of the College — a powerful reflection of the people, opportunities and values that make SFX a place where students are known, supported and inspired to grow.

Through the voices of students and staff, the film captures the defining characteristic of St Francis Xavier College: an authentic, welcoming community where every student is encouraged to be themselves and discover who they are becoming.
 

For many students, the transition from primary school to high school can feel daunting. Yet, as the film reveals, SFX provides an environment where young people quickly find connection, confidence and belonging.

Students speak openly about the friendships they form, the encouragement they receive and the sense that they are part of something bigger than themselves. It is a place where individuality is embraced, diversity is celebrated and every student is supported to explore their passions — whether academic, creative, technical, spiritual or sporting.

A consistent message throughout the film is the deep care that exists between staff and students. Teachers take the time to understand each learner — their strengths, challenges, ambitions and interests — creating a personalised approach that allows every student to flourish. From inclusive education programs to a pastoral care structure that supports students from Year 7 through to Year 12, SFX is committed to nurturing the whole person.

The breadth of opportunities available at the College also features strongly in the film. Students describe discovering new interests through clubs, co-curricular activities and diverse subject pathways — from robotics and rocketry to creative arts, sport and academic extension. These experiences not only shape learning outcomes, but also help young people build confidence, resilience and a strong sense of identity.
