Celebrating talent, leadership and community at the College Assembly
There was a strong sense of energy and community spirit across the College today as students and staff gathered for an assembly celebrating achievement, creativity, leadership and the exciting future of the College.

A highlight of the assembly was a moving musical performance of Blossoms by student musician Myles Chapman, setting the tone for a morning that highlighted the diverse talents and passions of the SFX community.

Students also took part in a series of positive primers and brain break activities, including a lively game of “Heads or Tails”, bringing plenty of laughter and connection to the hall.
A major focus of the assembly was recognising the outstanding efforts of students at the recent Athletics Carnival. Students were congratulated not only for their competitive spirit and participation, but also for the incredible number of new College records achieved throughout the event.

The assembly also celebrated the ongoing enthusiasm and participation shown through the College House system. Congratulations were extended to Pindari House, who finished in first place at the Athletics Carnival with an impressive 4,701 points.

Students also recognised the outstanding contributions made throughout Term 1, with Cooper Todd named the individual House Points winner for Term 1. Pindari House was also crowned the overall Term 1 House Points champion.

The creative arts took centre stage with the official launch of Unmasked, the College’s new inclusive visual arts competition, designed to encourage creativity, expression and participation from students of all backgrounds and abilities. Students were also introduced to the poetry competition The Good Is Close at Hand, which invites young writers to reflect on gratitude, hope and the moments of goodness found in everyday life.

The College community also heard from College Business Manager Ian Garland, who shared an exciting update on the upcoming Administration Block upgrades. The works mark an important milestone in the College Masterplan and represent the beginning of significant future-focused improvements to campus facilities.

Another notable launch was the Senior Leadership Team Sleepout Fundraiser, an initiative aimed at raising awareness and support for those experiencing homelessness and hardship within the wider community.
Today’s assembly was a powerful reflection of life at SFX — a community where academic growth, creativity, leadership, service and student wellbeing are all celebrated together
